An idyllic fishing cove and great surf beach
Porthcurno was once an important place on the map. It was the centre of world telecommunication and, until recently, there was a training school for that industry to which people came from all over the world. It has arguably one of the best beaches in Cornwall. On the cliffs to the west of Porthcurno is the world famous Minack Theatre. This wonderful open air venue commands superb views across Porthcurno Bay, with its turquoise water and golden rocks, as far as The Lizard. There are many rewarding walks along the cliffs and coastal path from Porthcurno, westwards towards Porthgwarra and Land’s End; eastwards to Logan Rock and Mousehole . Beyond the headland is Penberth Cove, an unspoilt fishing cove belonging to the National Trust. The local primary would be St Levan. There is a good variety of houses in this area but they do not come up for sale that often.

DownloadPorthcurno is a small hamlet, best known for the Minack Theatre, and is served directly by bus, unlike some of the other outlying villages.
Bus
Porthcurno sits on the 1/1A route (Penzance–Land's End), currently operated by Go Cornwall Bus (branded the "Land's End Coaster"), with service 1A specifically routed via Porthcurno. It's roughly a 40-minute journey from Penzance, and the route runs year-round. As elsewhere in West Cornwall, check Transport for Cornwall for live updates - there have been recent emergency road closures near Newlyn affecting the 1/1A, requiring diversions via St Buryan.
On arrival
The bus stop is a short but steep, uphill walk to the Minack Theatre itself, with no footpath, so it's worth allowing extra time - especially in peak season when the stop gets busy. Local taxi firms (Logan Rock Cars, St Just Cars, Penzance Taxis, Stones Taxis) also serve the theatre, including wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
Road
By car, the direct route via St Buryan (B3283) is narrow and prone to summer congestion; the alternative via Sennen and the B3315 is usually recommended instead. Free parking is available for theatre visitors.
Rail
No station in Porthcurno - nearest is Penzance, about 9 miles away.
